Lelystad, April 2002
For the sixth time, the spectacular recumbent event "Cycle Vision" will
take place at the RDW test-track in Lelystad, June 28-30. This year
extra shiny, since the organisation incorporated the European Recumbent
Championship. And the fastest teams from accross the world will come to
The Netherlands, to attack the official human powered one-hour world
record, currently held by Lars Teutenberg at 80 km/h (50 M/h). More

Friday June 28th
The opening will be on Friday, in central Lelystad. The major of
Lelystad will start a tour to Dronten. Thereafter the 200 m sprint with
standing start will be on the Morinel. There will also be an information
market with displays dealing with various aspects of recumbent riding.
Saturday June 29th and Sunday June 30st
During the weekend, the RDW terrain near Lelystad Airport, will stage
many activities, with ample car parking facilities on the near by
circuit. The wide tarmacoval track will be reserved for the fastest
recumbents. But this will not be the only public attraction: a 1000 sq
meter (10,000 sq feet) exhibition will offer a wide range of recumbents
and related items on display.
In the Marquis
Stands
All Dutch recumbent manufacturers will be present. They show the latest
developments, models and technique.
Open Forum
Presentations of various models, clubs and noticable technical
presentations. The world-record bikes will be on display in the marquis.
Home builders
Enthousiast amateur builders will be present to show of their latest
creations.
On and around the circuit
European Championship
Already 120 athletes from 10 diverent countries have enlisted for the
European Championship. Due to the organistaions excellent reputation,
built in the last five years, their is a broad international interest.
Various races will be held: The usual six-hour competition is replaced
by a three-hour race, to create space for the European Championship
races: 200 m sprint from stand-still; 200 m sprint with flying start;
one-hour time trial and a criterion.
Trial track
There will be two trial tracks. One for the adults and one for the
children. Practically all bikes available in The Netherlands will be
present. You will notice how smooth and easy recumbents ride. Extreme
comfort and the possibility to ride fast, or longer distances without
problems is possible with this type of bikes.
Second hand market
There is an opportunity for everyone to make use of the high
concentration of recumbists (recumbent riders) ore those who want to be.
The second hand market gives the opportunity to sell a bike.
Snail-race
Anyone can participate in the snail race. Not the fastest, but the
slowest will be winner!
