This was really enjoyable, Sally. I also thought of some songs that would fit Our Heroes: For Blake, plenty of stuff from the sixties, 'We Shall Overcome', 'Free the People', 'Joe Hill'. Dylan's 'Chimes of Freedom', Lennon's 'Power to the People', 'Fernando' by ABBA. The whole repertoire of Joan Baez and Billy Bragg. And 'Nowhere Man' for S3 and S4. For Vila, 'Red, Red Wine', 'Spill Wine' by Burdon, 'Everybody Must Get Stoned' by Dylan. 'Seven Drunken Nights', 'John Barleycorn', the Fool's song from 'King Lear'. Maybe 'King of the Road'. For Cally, 'Sounds of Silence'. 'Sky Pilot' and 'Up Where We Belong' for Tarrant and Jenna. For Gan, there's a song about a giant miner who died while helping the others to escape from a crumbling pit. I think it's called 'Big Bad John'. For Travis, 'The Man Who Sold the World' by Bowie and 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun' by Pink Floyd. For Avon, 'Melancholy Man', 'Lucky Lips', maybe something by Kraftwerk. 'I used to love her, but I had to kill her' for 'Rumours'. 'Wish You Were Here' for 'Terminal'. And 'Confusion Will be my Epitaph' for 'Blake'... N.

So on Sunday night there was a brief reacquaintance with Mr Eyepatch (Traitor), and the Space Rats' general appearance. Nothing further. As yet. Anyone want to recommend an episode that might be therapeutic for my poor, shaken mental faculties? Don't say Deathwatch, for my sight has been blasted as it is... Czeslaw Milosz observed (in the era of the communist regimes): In the East, if you say certain things, you can get killed. In the West, you can say whatever you like, but no one gives a damn. At least 'democracies', as Milosz saw them, tend to deaden a threatening message rather than its author. 'Not give a damn' might be somewhat better than getting a bullet in the back of your head. Blake fights against a regime which I think fits the former of Milosz's observations. I agree that the latter is still far from perfect, but hopefully one doesn't have to fight it with weapon. As for Blake himself, I don't think he'd want any share of power in the post-Federation government. I don't think he'd fit into any system. He'd always remain a rebel and a misfit. He'd probably be a fierce critic and a pain in the neck to the new government, and they'd soon pronounce him an outlaw again or lock him up. Or at least this is how I like my Blake, straight, with no sugar. N.

The fact that it's called a party does not have to imply that it's officially registered or legal - but it could imply Blake's initial desire to make it legal, i.e., his desire to fight for political power peacefully.
