Scapegoat or proxy - would that be the same thing as Tanist? My theory is
that Travis is really Blake's dark self. Last evening I read a story in
which Blake sees a shadow in the 'next world' and at first he thinks it's
Avon, but then it turns out to be Travis. It's not the first time I
encounter such a twist in fanfic: Blake confusing Avon for Travis in a
moment of frenzy, Avon with an artificial eye, etc. Blake seems to have two
shadows, although there doesn't seem to be much similarity between Avon and
Travis. Could you cast some mythological light in there? (Or anyone else who
has a suggestion?)
