I've seen something like that done somewhere in a series of stories (can't
remember where - in Phoenix?). Cally is pregnant and she and Avon fake her
death; she sneaks aboard Scorpio and escapes in one of the lifepods in
suspended animation, but not to Kaarn. The last story has Avon and Vila some
time after GP on another planet, finding a coin Avon gave her - one assumes
she's there too. The serial stops at that point; I expected rather more.
The fact you never see Cally's body and have to take Avon's word for it (as
with Blake and Jenna) does give a nice opportunity, though Avon would have
to have a good reason to lie to the others instead of enlisting their help.
