LATEST NEWS FROM AVON:PDS 20TH SEPTEMBER 2001 MEMORABILIA - NEC, BIRMINGHAM Paul will be appearing (subject to work commitments) at this year's Memorabilia event to be held at the NEC Birmingham on Sunday 4th November. Paul is a guest of 10th Planet and will be signing a range of merchandise and photographs from Dr. Who and Blake's 7 at their stall from approx. 10 a.m. onwards. More voice-overs for Paul.... He can be heard on the Discovery channel advertising 'Shark Weekend' And...Don't forget, Paul will be doing a 'signing' on the 22nd September (this Saturday) at Sheffield Hallam University, Howard Street, Sheffield. I've been asked 'how do I get there'......Well, to get there you follow the signs to the City Centre, then follow signs for the National Centre for Popular Music. Sheffield Hallam is alongside this structure. Both the rail and bus/coach station are directly across the road from the venue. Couldn't be easier! So why not pop along and give Paul your support. We know the subject of Egrogian's thesis at Bellhangria University, and several people who are presumably not M.D.s are referred to as Doctor, so there must have been at least some universities. I can't make up my mind whether I think Blake went to one of them or to a specifically engineering school (something like CalTech or MIT, maybe). I think it's at least some evidence that Avon's family was not terribly wealthy that he EVER stopped being a post-doc and got a job. (Although they might have lost their money or disowned him for one reason or another.) In fact his Flight Deck argument style seems carried over from academic infighting. We haven't been told whether one goes to Federation Space Academy after or instead of college--presumably the latter, if Tarrant is old enough to have various post-graduate adventures. Presumably Servalan also went to FSA, although my mind boggles. We aren't told that Jenna DIDN'T go to FSA, but I tend to doubt it. So where, if anywhere, did she go to college? I have no idea about Auron higher education. Gan and Vila probably didn't go to college-- although if there were a B7 version of Doonesbury (...let me hurry to state that I don't think there could be...) Vila would make an excellent Zonker Harris. (I wonder if he's a relative of Xander's BTW.) -(Y)
