Domes and religion

Religion and the domes Going back to an earlier discussion. Perhaps the destruction of the churches - on Earth at least - is 'in some way' connected with the move into domes. Buildings for religious uses usually take up a lot of space relative to their actual usage, and space might well be at a premium in the domes - so 'faith'/religious belief might exist in the private rather than the public domain. Also - if leaving the domes was a 'Category Four' offence, and the outsiders were to be shunned, how come Servalan as President had a mansion outside in 'Rumours'? The way Chesku, Sula/Anna and the two guards treat the set up suggests that this was not an unusual phenomenon. Perhaps it was 'one rule for the masses shoved into domes, another rule (or none) for those rich enough to afford it.' World Trade Center

It seems like I can't turn to other subjects without trying to say something about this, but words are inadequate. Perhaps the words haven't been invented. A woman who survived the holocaust once wrote that there is a language that no one knows, no one except those who survived the camps. We have all survived this past week, yet where are the words to describe it? Evil is the only one that seems adequate. I know we've been discussing past evils and possible future ones and, perhaps, someday I will find something else I can say. But, right now, this is it. That, and I keep praying for God's mercy on us all. That doesn't seem adequate to what I wish I knew how to say either, but it will have to do. I can see why Jenna might have faded out from her earlier, more prominent position as the others began to learn what she had to teach them and after having to face the reasons why they were so quick to believe she _would_ sell them out - but why did they turn to Avon? His first shot at command nearly killed everyone. Or have we misjudged Meegat all these years? Maybe worshipping Avon was a side effect of the radiation and even mild doses could be incurable? After Liberator rescued Vila and Cally from Chenga, has anyone ever wondered what happened next? I've always wondered if, after they were revived and the situation was explained, if the crew took any further steps. They could have tipped off planets with a free press about what the Chengans did with war refugees. That's assuming they didn't take some kind of more direct action to stop it (Avon doesn't like people almost killing his associates, Tarrant has his sense of honor, Vila doesn't like almost being killed, and Cally has an aversion to the mass slaughter of innocents). defective How Green Was My Valley tape sets

I hope some of you have been buying Gareth Thomas's "How Green Was My Valley" from various sources in the UK. It is only available PAL, and it is two cassettes with five hours of drama. It is a wonderful show, and I highly recommend it for everyone who enjoys good storytelling and great acting. It's not expensive, either. It will be labeled as 1975 mini-series or 1975 BBC or Stanley Baker/Sian Phillips twinpack. Do not make the error of buying the American movie. Unfortunately, some of the tapes have been defective. I know at least two of the four tapes I ordered from Choices Direct were bad. I'm just hoping that the tape that Gareth Thomas himself got is good. But I doubt he's had time to check it. I now know that my friend in Australia who ordered the tape from Benson's World got a defective tape. So far the companies I know selling the tapes are Choices Direct, Benson's World, Blackstar, and Amazon.co.uk. Does anyone know if you can directly buy them in UK video stores?? If that is possible, then that would be the best way to buy it because you could return the defective tape easier. Well, maybe not easier, but you wouldn't have to mail it. It cost me nine US dollars to return my tape. Whenever you get your tape of HGWMV it is important to check it immediately for quality. And you have to check both tapes. For obvious defective quality you only have to watch the first 5-10 minutes of each tape. But it would be a good idea to plan on watching the entire show as soon as possible. I ordered two sets for me personally and had to take one tape from each set to get a good tape set. It's not perfect but it is watchable. The other two tapes were totally bad--and bad in different ways. I didn't even have to watch five minutes to see the tapes were unwatchable. I would appreciate anyone who gets a GOOD copy of HGWMV through mail order or internet order sending me the information because I want to buy a good copy from somebody. I did a review (with typos) of HGWMV and it is at http://amazon.co.uk. I would appreciate somebody writing a review for http://uk.imdb.com (or http://us.imdb.com) because that website will not not accept my browser. Joyce JEB31538(a)cs.com

Difficult in the immediate aftermath, true. But that was years ago now and probably nearly all, if not all, of the bodies have been recovered.
