I think there may have been a bug in function where I didn't increment some list pointer in the get_children() function. You may have the buggy one still. You might have to get the latest cvs version. My code is latest cvs as of a few days ago. Per the log for gtkcontainer.pre (where the bug exists) it was fixed in 7.8.396, so you definitely have the buggy version. You should update to the latest cvs version: http://pike.ida.liu.se/generated/pikefarm/packages/7.8/latest

GTK2 Label set_text

Hi, Wouldn't it be more convenient if the gtk2 widgets which receive string text have an automated sprintf inside? e.g. GTK2.Label()->set_text() now only takes a string. Best regards, Marc

svalue problem

But when the callback is actually called (show_bam_menu()), filedat is still "this is a string), rather than what I set filedat to in file_open_menu(). I put debug statements in the relevant code (GTK2/source/gtkactiongroup.pre), and it shows that the arg is still the previous value, not what I set it to. It seems that when I originally set up the callback... Hmm, I now see why, I did assign_svalue_no_free(). I don't want to get get a copy of the svalue, I actually want to reference the svalue. Or, if needed, get an indirect reference that I can deal with in the c-code to put the current, proper value in at the time. I hope I am clear. Does anybody have an idea of what I need to do? Maybe save a reference to the proper svalue, and not a copy, and indirectly reference it later? Although I'm not sure how I would do that. Maybe use a name of a variable in the menu_actions above, have the code do a lookup on the name at the time of the callback, and get the current value instead? -lsd

System.Inotify

I merged the Public.System.Inotify module into pike as System.Inotify. Its currently only in my git. You can fetch the branch called 'inotify' at http://laramies.com/git/pike/ I would like to commit this into cvs. However, it seems to me that the current policy is not to commit anything new until 7.9 is there? Also, right now it is seperate from the dnotify in Stdio. The inotify api is different from dnotify, so it might not be possible to merge that. All comments on the code welcome. arne

sqlite bug on Windows?

Hi! Pike programs (pike version 7.8.316) crash on Windows if I use sql insert with the builtin sqlite module (on Linux there is no problem). Maybe it is a bug? Cheers: Tamás

I've reported this to debian, but maybe the dev-list can also shed some light on the the topic. On one system, pike7.8 from debian installs correctly. However on one other, using a AMD Geode processor (if that has anything to do with it), it fails while dumping. I get this when I do the following command by hand: #pike -x dump -r /usr/lib/pike7.8 Error in attached textfile. I've finally uploaded pike 7.8 to unstable (despite the failure to dump dump.pike). The documentation handling will also have to wait. The set of meta packages is unchanged. Changes since 7.8.352-dfsg-1: * Add trigger for dumping of Pike modules when pike7.8-core or any module package is installed. * Remove support for the unversioned local module and include directories (/usr/local/lib/pike/*) to avoid having to coordinate their creation and removal by multiple versions. * Drop apparently obsolete build-dep libgtkhtml2-dev. * Don't run update-alternatives --remove on upgrade. * Exclude Tools.PV, which requires GTK (not GTK2). * debian/rules, unbreak_cross_compilation.dpatch: Use the right gcc and pass --host=$(DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE) to configure as necessary. Fix various bugs preventing cross compilation (Closes: #582242). Thanks to Marc Dirix. * Exclude modules GDK, Gnome, and GTKSupport, which also are for GTK+/Gnome 1.2, and update the package description of pike7.8-gtk to reflect the fact that it provides GTK+ 2.0 bindings. * Disable --with-relocatable-dumped-modules; it doesn't seem that we need it and it doesn't seem to work 100% properly. * no_dump_modules.dpatch (new): Patch install.pike not to dump modules at build time (thus no need to exclude master.pike.o in debian/rules). * Move AutoDoc and module-related modules and standalone tools to -dev and let -dev depend on -image. * module-layout.dpatch: Move misplaced parenthesis that caused the wrong local include directory to be added. * Build-depend on libmysqlclient-dev instead of libmysqlclient15-dev, which is now a virtual package provided by the former. * dumping_problems.dpatch (new): Patch from CVS fixing problems encoding the master object when dumping some modules. * cflags.dpatch (new): Make pike -x cflags print include_prefix as-is instead of stripping the last component. * Drop pike7.8-config; pike -x cflags and pike --dumpversion fills its functions. * Some changes in the meta package relationships.
