I've been annoyed at the divergent and fragmented implementations of html_encode_string, http_decode_string, etc. in Pike for quite some time. This is what it looks like today, afaik: encode: decode: --------------------------------------------------- html | _Roxen.html_encode_string Protocols.HTTP.unentity (partial) http | Protocols.HTTP.http_encode_string _Roxen.http_decode_string xml | - - Where should we put these methods instead? Standards.{HTTP,HTML,XML}? Somewhere else?

Change that to Roxen.http_encode_url in the yet unreleased 4.1. The one in 4.0 doesn't handle eight bit chars correctly. (Hmm, wonder why I haven't backported it..)

on the subject of segfaults

hi, the following was reported on irc. this code causes a segfault on pike 7.6: void main() { object data = Web.RDF()->parse_xml(Stdio.read_file("data.xml")); array link_temp = map(indices(data->get_subject_map()),"get_uri"); //array link_temp = indices(data->get_subject_map())->get_uri; } what is interresting to note is that using the commented line instead, no segfault happens. should those two lines not be compiled to the same? the segfault appeas to happen while the function that contains these lines, returns. (in this case when main() returns) data.xml is attached. greetings, martin.

filesystem_stat issue (Linux, 2.6 kernel)

fileystem_stat is not working correctly with NFS filesystems under Linux (at least kernel v2.6, glibc 2.3.4). Specifically block size is not correct. In my case I get blocksize 4096 while in actuality the block size is 32768. The 4096 is, according to the Linux statvfs manual page, the fragment size. I don't know if this is a Linux specific issue, but it might be (google says this field is "fundamental block size" in various UNIX flavors, but it's unclear to me what that means). ring, scope, tuple

hi, while we are chatting on irc, martin is having a stroll through the pike core and he reported some interresting findings: he found that the typesystem has types that have not been implemented, like: ring, scope and tuple. now tuple i am familiar with from python, but the others don't ring ;-) a bell. hubbe or someone else who might know, can you enlighten us as to what the properties of these types would be? also, which properties does a tuple have, that i can't get from an array with two elements? greetings, martin.

basic types as classes

hi, in order to facilitate creating classes that are derived from basic types, i have started to implement a class Mapping that is supposed to behave exactly like a real mapping. using http://pike.ida.liu.se/generated/manual/modref/ex/lfun_3A_3A.html as a guideline, i have implemented all functions that i believe a mapping needs to support. please tell me if there is anything missing or wrong. if i don't get any complaints i am looking for a good place to check this into pike cvs. would Mapping.Mapping be a good place for this? greetings, martin.

Ok, bad example since that could be written as array(int)(3) instread, but array(int,string)(1) -> A pair of int and string
