Oh. I thought there would be loads of comments on this on the list this morning - perhaps I'm too bright and early.
Of course one is *scandalised* that B7 only got to number 6. Behind Thunderbirds for goodness sake.
On the other hand, one is simply delighted to have the chance to admire Gareth, Paul, Jackie, Brian Spider, Og and Jarriere, all within seconds of each other. And one notes with approval that the commentators, for a wonder, seemed to vaguely have got the hang of what B7 was about.
One finally notes that male cultural commentators like Kim Newman and Paul Morley seem to have cottoned on to the whole subtext thingy, and that clips were chosen accordingly.
All in all I'll give it 8 out of 10, but then my expectations were rock bottom.

Hmm, well, our video fucked up and taped BBC 2 rather than Channel 4 while we were watching Randall & Hopkirk, so I didn't get to see the B7 bit
If anyone taped it and wouldn't mind lending me their copy, I'd love to see it.

Not to mention the shocking travesty of Dr Who at 2 and Trek at 1. Disgrace.

Given that Who and B7 effectively left terrestrial television 10 and 20 years ago respectively (except for some very badly handled recent repeats) they both did astonishing well.
The real surprise to me was that a long running recent show like Babylon 5 got beaten out of the top 10 by Space 1999 and Buck Rogers. I'm also moderately surprised that BR beat Battlestar Galactica, which according to normal media wisdom is the much more valuable franchise. Perhpas this is a UK-only thing. Not that I give a damn about any of that. Although it would have been nice to see Farscape make it into the top 10. And, yes, The Clangers.

PS Boots is stocking *great* Clangers hotwater bottles right now. And all I got for my birthday was a bottle of Glenmorangie, Southpark season 4, and a bottle of champagne... (Thanks Hellen)

I've no doubt that this has more to do with the cost of showing clips from these shows rather than anything else.

Well, there's the question... if this list was the result of a poll, then what were the actual *choices* people were offered in the first place? None of the things that were in this top ten were recent, they were all 70s and 80s shows -- and maybe that was one of the selection criteria; "Which of the following SF shows from the 70s & 80s do you like best?". In which case B5 and Farscape wouldn't have got a look in in the first place. Does anyone know whether this is the case?
