How many list members are going to Redemption, anyway? I'll be there,
barring disasters and/or excess weirdness.

Me. That will be my first convention. Ever. And I realised, that I even
do not know the names of those 5 fellas from Babilon...

Whew! Someone else going who isn't a raving B5 fan!
Yes, I'm going!
(waves at everyone else who will be there)
I haven't been to a Redemption before, but from all reports, you've
definitely picked a good convention to go to as your first!

As you too have picked. If you are travelling from your place to
Britain, you have elected for yourself a 24-hour trip. In case you
haven't taken this flight before - I have taken it once or twice - here
are some tips:
In the lead-up to the flight, practice sleeping a few minutes / hours
in an armchair. It will acclimatise, shall we say, your body to the
demands of sitting for an extended period.
You won't get much chance to walk while in-flight, so in the hour
before take-off, walk around as much as practicable so as to become a
little tired. The stopovers in Los Angeles, Singapore, or wherever will
provide an area for exercise and lying down (also for sitting, but I
don't think you will be doing that).
Carry onboard an air-filled pillow that wraps around the neck like a
collar. The ordinary pillow they will give you is less comfortable and
less practical but still rather useful. Also carry socks onboard to wear
instead of shoes.
Carry onboard a small quantity of your favourite spice with which to
flavour the food, and maybe a bar of chocolate to have with your cups of
tea.
If your hearing is good then something to block out that noise will be
preferred. There are movies on board which are a great way to pass the
time and to cut out the drone of the engines.
When it is all over, I will be interested to know whether you will have
been able to pursue some leisure activity: listening, reading, writing,
drawing etc.
Have a safe trip, next month, Kathryn, and also Calle, Hellen, and all
B7 air-travellers.
