Mine Own opinion ... it's emotional. He's rather good at over-reacting when one of his own is in danger (he might have read and agreed with all those tracts about 'a proper revolutionary mustn't care about his human tools' but he simply can't get it right <g>). I still think Blake stayed because he felt guilty about Avon being in danger. First off Avon's now with Grant who may blow his head off and second Blake had to let Avon go instead of him. Therefore his guilt is passed over to his wanting to stay - if he teleports up, he's abandoning Avon. Yet he cant teleport over to him, he'd have to get gear and would probably disturb him - not enough time. Here's where my problem lies, Blake is guilty, therefore he makes Vila stay. OK, I know I am always presenting ideas that I then go off and do nothing with. However, here's the latest brainstorm (how stormy the brain in question was to produce this being beside the point). Just been thinking in passing of the ST:DS9 ep with the quote from "Avon of the 7" and toying with the idea of crossovers. TIme: Inbetween Classic Trek and ST:TNG during a time of relative peace between the Federation and Cardassia. Characters: Avon: Avon of the 7 would have to be Bajoran, which … [View More]means a Bajoran nose and an earring with a slightly adapted wardrobe in black to match. A bit more committed to the fight than our Avon (he had more grudges and fewer outs), he's always looking for a chance to hurt Cardassia and/or the Occupation. His wife, Anna, is almost certainly dead but he's never received definite proof and tends to be more 'not interested' in dating than our Avon because of this. Kallandra Zel: 3/4 human, 1/4 Betazoid (or other telepathic race [not Vulcan. _No_ pointy ears]). Cally's counterpart. Taller than Cally and less slightly built with fair skin, she has reddish brown hair (curly and longer than Cally's) and hazel green eyes with gold flecks. She also has a sharper chin than Cally's, but it's Cally's face with different coloring and a sharper chin. Kallandra can communicate telepathically with Betazoids and possibly other telepaths. She has moderate empathic reading skills with nontelepaths but could form an Imzadi type link under the right circumstances (ie, if the plot requires). She was a nurse working at a Bajoran refugee camp. A Bajoran resistance group had been in the area, leading a bunch of Cardassians to show up. Kallandra tried to intervene. The decided not to hurt the Federation citizen. She and most of the youngest children were herded into a building. Kallandra was able to feel the people outside being killed. The Cardassians, however, cremated the bodies, then let her and the children out. The Federation, not wanting a fight with Cardassia at the time, decided the evidence was 'inconclusive.' Kallandra spent a couple of months having her testimony politely listened to, then ignored, before joining up with The Seven. Valk: a Ferengi who looks a lot like Michael Keating in a lot of make up. I have no idea why a Ferengi got into freedom fighting. The only thing I've gotten out of this character so far is that he thinks he'll make a killing selling his memoirs later, which sounds pretty thin so I know there's something more to it than that. Dai'yen: Dayna as a Klingon. Different wardrobe, more hair, growls, probably taller, always carries nasty looking weapons. IOW, no major differences. Tarran Dellos: Tarrant with an earring and Bajoran nose. Balak Rojoran: I don't know the details, but the Cardassians goofed. This was part of their attempt to condition Cardassian spies who would believe they were the Bajorans they impersonated. This experiment at downloading a Bajoran's memories into a Cardassian mind resulted in a sort of mind merger. Rojoran knows the truth about his tampered mind but it gave him a moral wake up call (Cardassian attempts to discredit him by accusing him of vile crimes were less than successful). I think he may be MIA or at least separated from the group. Soolin should probably be here. I don't know about Jenna. I also don't know about Orac, Zen, and Slave. However, there definitely is a very good ship (although it may have been blown up before things get rolling). Plot: All I know is that, somehow, Kallandra winds up in the B7 universe (along with Dai'yen and Valk, who she may have been separated from). It's early in S4. I'm reasonably sure she winds up helping to rescue Avon from some Federation forces who'd captured him before realizing this wasn't _her_ Avon. Avon, for his part, is initially suspicious but also disturbed by her resemblance to the recently dead Cally (the slowly dawning realization that she's Cally's counterpart doesn't really help). Kallandra, it should be noted, is only very good friends with her universe's Avon (see above). Valk, who has more self-confidence than Vila, will also be a bit disturbing to Avon as he frequently cites the Rules of Acquisition - Avon is not inclined to respect Ferengi culture and hearing his own philosophy constantly put forward by Valk will not make him a happy camper (examples - Rule 99: Trust is the biggest liability of all. #21: Never place friendship above profit. #121: Everything is for sale. Even friendship. #52: Never ask when you can take. #261: A wealthy man can afford anything except a conscience. #266: When in doubt, lie). It should be added that Kallandra will punch Valk (something Cally probably wouldn't do) when he notices Avon's interest in her and cites #113 to her, which I won't repeat here. Oh, and for Gauda Prime: #236: You can't buy fate. Avon in general: #48: The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife. Please note, Trek says the Ferengi devil is "the Smiling Partner." Other than that, not sure what happens. I also don't know how Garak is going to get into this or who he's going to torture for information (or for which side).
