1. Dawn of the Gods
"Did you use your delicate, skillful touch?"
"I used my delicate skillful boot."
How many SF shows would set up the fellow who was clever with locks to
kick open a jammed door?
2. Horizon
The gradual loss of crew from the ship, each person remaining having
more reason to believe Avon's warnings about the danger, but going down
anyway. Avon's reluctance to go to the planet vs. his knowlege that even
he needs some company.
3. Gambit
In this perposterous-wardrobe episode, the Supreme Commander of
perposterous wardrobe wears (red, finally!) a gown she can barely move
in. Somehow, it's glamourous and pathertic at the same time.
4. Finding the Lyst
You didn't say they had to be moments IN the show. Finding a forum for
intelligent discussion has made me think of aspects of the show I'd
never given thought to. It has to be a great show to have fans of this
caliber, right?
5. Cally kicking Blake's butt when they first meet. So what if she
wimped out later; it's still one of the best introductions a regular
female character could get.
6. Rumours of Death
A little POV from Ensign Expendible, as it were. For an epsiode, the
faceless, nameless guards aren't faceless and nameless. They have a
sense of humour, a hometown, and, as far as we know, have never killed
anyone.
7. Redemption
I may be the only one who thinks this, but I feel we see the supreme
moment of selfishness from Blake, here. In another show, the hero would
have dealt with the electric cable himself. Instead, Blake orders Avon
away from a task considered vital to *everyone's* safety to come get him
out of a jam.
8. The Way Back
The defense attorney starts putting things together, but is still to
naive to think of his own danger.
9. Star One
The whole episode. Yes, even the Andromedans.
10. Weapon
Carnell batting his eyelashes at Servalan in his farewell message.
11. Assassin
*I* liked Avon's "falling into the hands of the slavers" routine. And I
definitely liked the fact that one elderly man was smart enough to get
involved in order to get out.
12. Gambit again
I won't pretend I think Avon did a good job of lying in this. In fact,
it is the sheer obviousness of Avon and Vila's attempt to cover up their
jaunt to the planet that makes the end so funny. Somehow, in spite of
the fact that they are all free men and had worked out a plan that
wouldn't endanger the others, etc, they still come across as teenagers
caught out by dad, which says a lot about the subconcious emotional
dynamics.
13. Cygnus Alpha
In spite of Vila's huge screw up in Space Fall, Gan still seems to be
willing to be friend and protector.
14. Aftermath
The whole thiing. Really.
15. Terminal
Avon's non-sleep marathon on the flight deck and what it does to his
judgement abilities.
16. Volcano
Vila and Avon's tremendous optimism:"A mess."
17. Orbit
The dilemna
18. Headhunter
Soolin gets an interesting part, Avon refuses to leave Vila and Tarrant
to die on Orac's say-so, and everyone else goes against Avon in the end
to blow up the bad 'bot.
19. City At the Edge of the World
Vila gets to be the star of an episode. Yay!
