install instructions?

hi, i just noticed that there are no installation instructions on the website. a guy in #pike just wondered what those files without extensions are about. there is no indication that they are selfextracting tar files that need to be executed. greetings, martin.

Set some bits in the nt-tools repository

Could someone with sufficient access on Pelix please do chmod a+x on Pike/nt-tools/tools/cp.pike,v and Pike/nt-tools/tools/mv.pike,v in the cvs repository? It's impossible to accomplish through cvs if one missed to set them right away when the files were added.

Syntax for unparsed strings?

Is there a way to create strings that are not parsed for \something characters? If not, are there objections to adding a way to do that? It can get to be a pain dealing with strings containing lots of " chars or when dealing with something like regexs where the \ char is used for escaping, so you have to double escape everything. The goal would be to run the testsuites on a machine where pike has been installed as a binary package. I've tested to copy the testsuites outside the build path, but: - they require some files that need to be copied as well (inventory issue); - they use absolute paths where the build path appears; This shouldn't be hard to fix. Postgres tests broken in 7.6

The 7.6 Postgres module fails to build on OpenSolaris/Solaris 11. In 7.4 and 7.7 it works or does not fatally stop the compilation at least. Could some postgres guru take a look at why 7.6 and 7.7 does not behave in the same way? What's the right way to deal with this?

Sql.postgres has a quote() method that just does replace. For ancient postgresql versions, that's as good as it gets. For newer versions, Postgres.postgres has a quote() method that is preferable. How can I check for Postgres.postgres()->quote in Sql.postgres to see wether or not to use Sql.postgres()->quote? Or do I need to move the pure pike quote() method into Postgres.postgres? Adam

Web.Crawler breaks on robots.txt exclusions?

Web.Crawler.Crawler calls queue->set_stage(real_uri, 6); if its denied by a robots.txt exclusion. Does anyone know what 6 means? It looks like its just ignored later on in MemoryQueue()->get(). The result is that any time a Crawler hits a uri denied by robots.txt, it loops forever checking that uri, calling the error_callback, and then leaving it the queue to check again. Adam
