How do we handle security issues in modules?

I am working on a fix to the postgres module for the recent postgresql security issue. Its a pretty significant problem, allowing SQL injections whenever people are using multi-byte character encodings. Is there a formal security announcement process or anything I should be aware of? And while talking about postgres, has Postgres.postgres been deprecated long enough that it can be removed in 7.7 and merged with Sql.postgres into a single module? Adam

Is there a good reason to why the COM module went into 7.6? whatever happened to the impending release of whitefish? i'm looking for a full text engine and am getting fed up with dealing with lucene. anyone have another suggestion? crawler and so forth are not important here, I just need the indexing portion. bill

Web.Crawler patch and getting CVS access

This makes the Web.Crawler actually send a user-agent when requesting robots.txt, and makes it the same user-agent as it uses everywhere else. Also, I emailed jhs, marcus and stensson at the addresses listed on http://pike.ida.liu.se/development/ about getting CVS access, but never got a reply from anyone. Can someone who can give me access send me an email? Thanks Adam

rntcl problems

THREADS_ALLOW() doesn't work with debug?

The FCGI module contains the following code: THREADS_ALLOW(); ret = FCGX_Accept_r(THIS->request); THREADS_DISALLOW(); This works fine normally, but if pike was compiled --with-debug, then HIDE_GLOBAL_VARIABLES() is defined which sets int Pike_interpreter =0; which in turn means THIS is no longer valid and you get: ./FCGI.cmod:157: error: request for member `frame_pointer' in something not a structure or union Adam

fixdepends.sh sed command fix

Attached is a tiny patch to fix "invalid command code ;" errors when doing "make depend" in modules with OpenBSD's sed at least, probably the other BSDs too. I confirmed that it still behaves the same with GNU sed, but I haven't got access to any other systems to test, and I am definately not a sed expert. Adam

Problems with CMOD installations

Trying to install any CMOD modules on a fresh pike install fails with: make: don't know how to make /usr/local/include/pike/precompile.sh-stamp Since nobody else has noticed this already, its probably only an issue when pike is installed with INSTALLARGS=--traditional. I'm not sure what the purpose of precompile.sh-stamp is, so I'm not sure what the right way of fixing this is. Also, since the recent changes to the installer to not install so much stuff with execute permissions, /usr/local/include/pike/precompile.sh isn't executable, so CMOD modules fail from that too. latest 7.7 snapshot won't install

When trying to install the latest 7.7 snapshot on openbsd 3.9/i386 I end up with it stuck here: if [ -f dumpversion ]; then make delete_dumped_modules; else :; fi Installing Pike in /usr/local, please wait... Installing: |========== | 20.0 % tpike is using 100% of the CPU, and it just sits there forever. Before I spend too much time trying to dig through the install scripts to try and find out what its doing exactly at 20%, does anyone have an educated guess? Adam

hilfe spewing 00000000

I am trying to get an interactive mode working for my app, to make debugging it easier. I created a "Hilfe" class that inherits Tools.Hilfe.StdinHilfe, and if the app is called with -i, I call add_constant() on this, call Hilfe(), and then return. But when I start my app with -i, I get the welcome to hilfe message, and then it starts spewing 0 at me forever, I am back at my shell, and I have to kill the pike process to get the 0s to stop.
