Doesn't B7 fandom produce some of the most awesome artefacts? And artefacts which could not exist a few years ago. You couldn't 'get there' by any rational means. You can rationally set out to produce the products of consumer entertainment - a top 10 hit for instance, or a soap opera - but how could you define the production process for a work of fanfiction or a web site like Penny's or Judith's, or Wobblevision or tofpa.
