Finally it's quite a poignant moment when Avon replies to Meegat 'That seems like a poor reward somehow.' (Can't believe I'm presenting him as self-deprecating but that's the way it reads.

This is really an interesting line; the contrast in tone is so clear to one of his and Vila's running gags (although I think they may have begun it after): pronouncing, ironically, "And that makes it all worthwhile."
