Obviously, lots of people on the Lyst like Harry Potter, and from past messages it's clear that B7 and Buffy fandom overlap to a significant extent. I know that our Una is an ornament to DS9 fanfic, but I haven't seen many Lyst references to the other ST shows. There must also be various Whovians (someone I was trying to turn into a New Soul watched Space Fall for about ten minutes and said "It's like Dr. Who--only better!"). What other cross-fandoms exist, and are we looking for the same thing in our other fandoms as in B7, or for something different or even an antidote (e.g., optimism)?

What do you consider qualifies one to be a member of a show's "fandom"? Watching it faithfully? Participating in online discussion about it? Writing fanfic, buying action figures, erecting shrines, making sacrifices?
I guess according to most of those criteria (which specifically I leave as an exercise to worry the reader) I can safely say I'm a X-Files fan.
In general there seems to be a great deal of Babylon 5 cross-pollination, and Discworld.

Conspiracies, paranoia, melodrama, strangely theatrical dialogue, incredibly self-contradictory universe, universally hostile aliens, one of the main characters is a cock-eyed idealist and the other one is a snarky pragmatist with a funny nose, to say nothing of the one-armed psychopath...shall I go on? You mentioned DS9, which is my other writing fandom. Other shows I have written something for: Who, one HL crossover with the delectable Methos (Louise is right there's a lot of crossover there)... Other fandoms whose conventions I have attended across the years - Dr Who, The Prisoner, The Avengers, ITC film series... Other shows I have watched religiously on transmission: Babylon 5, BtVS, Angel, oh god that doesn't even begin to cover it... Sample of shows that I have bought on video or DVD: Robin of Sherwood, The Water Margin, Farscape, Le Carre adaptations, Moonbase 3, Ultraviolet, Star Cops, ect ect ect... Shows that I have lovingly taped week by week to capture for ever: Colditz, acres of drama, Red Dwarf, tons of comedy, nostalgia shows, and we can carry on forever here, frankly, although I don't tend to do that as much as I used to what with all the repeat channels although they've never bloody repeated 'A Very Peculiar Practice' season 2 and that's the one I really want typical bloody UK Gold...
I think I've been on a lifetime quest to find something which had the impact of 'Blake'. Not there yet. That's OK, they're still making loads of new telly.
Marian mentioned "Britishness" and I think that's basically what interests me. British TV and how we make it.

My whole life has been a sacrifice to 'Blake's 7'. Imagine if I'd stuck with 'Coronation Street'.
