Avon isn't the only one who doesn't always say what he means/thinks, of course (in fact, most of 'em are good at not saying what they're thinking. Avon just takes it to a higher art-form.) On B7, just because because someone doesn't put in in clear, unambiguous language doesn't mean a thing. I'm not for one minute denying that he *does* look at them as prospective crew-members *if* they want to stay with him, but that isn't the bald and whole truth; loyalty comes into it.

But one never claimed that Arco et al were *friends*, with Blake they don't have to be. Just someone who (I-his-O) needs his help (see Destiny, Horizon, Countdown) ...
