You know, I am going to have to put up a wall-sized map of England and do some studying. I don't know if you've just accomplished the equivalent of a trip from New York to Dallas, or a shuttle hop from Boston to Washington, D.C. :-(
It's shameful how little I know of British geography, especially in view of the hundreds of novels I read and TV programs I've watched that are set there. Sum total of my knowledge: I could make a dot on the map where London is, and I could approximate the borders of Scotland and Wales. Outside of that, I know the names of some counties --and have zero idea where they are, or what they are like geographically, or their historical significance, or how they differ from each other. (Hmm. Get a 'child's history of Britain', too, I guess.)
When I see posts by Brits who clearly know where our states are, and how they differ in climate/industry/way of life I cringe at my ignorance. What's worse, I don't think I'm outside the American norm in this matter. Says a lot for our schooling, eh?

On the other hand Americans' obliviousness to everything outside their borders is the Canadian media's primary source of humour (;-p).
ObB7, um...do you suppose everyone speaks with British accents because North America and Australia got wiped out somehow (but English--the language--continued taking over the world), or at some point did the North Americans etc. all start affecting a British accent in order to sound cool?

Hey, I'm pretty good at Canada, know all the provinces, or as some think of them, future US states 51-60. ;-)

Oh well, I've lived here all my life, and it was only when I went to Colchester for the first time (aged 23) that I realised it was in Essex, not the south coast. I think I'd got it confused with Chichester.
Similarly Portsmouth and Plymouth. I knew roughly where Plymouth was, because the train from Manchester to Oxford ended up there. But I amalgamated it with Portsmouth, and hence could never understand why a Portsmouth friend travelled to Manchester via London, which I thought was an enormous detour to the east.
However, I believe some southerners are equally confused about the North.
So, did our crew ever confuse Auron and Auros? Zonda and Zondawl? While looking up these, I notice that even the Sevencyclopaedia slips and refers to Betafarl in the entry on Beta-5.

Perish the thought !

Just as well Zen was in charge of Navigation really otherwise you could have had the scene where Avon berates Vila for setting the coordinates for Destany (Federation military outpost) rather than Destiny.
Vila: "Well how was I to know ? They're both silly names for planets if you ask me.
It's a little known fact that Jarriere left Servalan's employ after taking her to Gothos, Gond and several other planets beginning with G after the events of Gambit.
I shudder to think what might have happened if the Tachyon Funnel had ever been used in anger.
