This might be true of some people, but I tend to see character and not actor. For example, Kristin Scott Thomas might well be my favourite actress. I happened to see her starring in two films on two adjacent days (Angels & Insects and Richard III) and honestly didn't realise till the credits in either case that it had been her.

I also distinctly remember watching the BBC production of The Bell which, according to Judith's bio, showed in January 1982, just after the first run of B7 finished, without noticing Gareth Thomas -- who from the photo looked pretty Blake-like.
