I find the I-E particularly useful because it helps in explaining something about myself and a lot of other Is I know - which is that many of us score as extroverts on the more usual definitions, and behave that way, thus leading to bewilderment on the part of others when we turn anti-social. Agreed! Also, I love doing public speaking, acting, and other things that many people are too shy to do. People think that's an extrovert thing because one is on display. For me, as an introvert, it isn't too intimidating because I choose what I want to show... the audience sees what I want it to see. In interactive communication, I find myself in the painful position of having to guess how they expect me to react to what they are saying, what they want from me, etc.
