How did Dorian know about the Liberator crew being stranded

Did Servalan tell him, as a backup plan in case her

Not necessarily. If Dorian managed to keep his secret from Soolin, there's no reason Servalan would know. Maybe it was the other way around -- Dorian told Servalan about Terminal (for whatever reason... money, whatever...) and he managed to get wind of her plan, and made plans of his own. After all, Tarrant was very surprised to find Terminal where it was, and he was the only person on the Liberator who'd even heard of it, yet here Dorian comes swanning up saying he's here on Terminal for salvage. He of course knows the location and history of Terminal because he's so old, and hasn't forgotten.
Great idea!
Or maybe Servalan put out a general message that the crew was trapped on Terminal, so even if they survived the booby-traps, the bounty-hunters or Amagons would get them.

Too risky that a bunch of freedom fighters might be sufficiently impressed by the legend of the Liberator to try and rescue them first.
