Now I'm envisioning a B7 version of John Barton's "Acting Shakespeare," with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company (not, however, including either GT or Josette Simon)--I still remember the wonderful scene from Twelfth Night with Judi Dench and Richard Pasco.
I think Hellen had a good point when she referred to Avon "performing charm" with Servalan, because I think PD had wonderful comedy timing but when it came to emotional passages, it was frequently time to get out the Grey Poupon. It could also be argued that one of Avon's endearing characteristics is his tendency to play to the gallery, though (even when he has an audience of three, one, or indeed zero). That's one reason I think of Avon as coming from a lower-middle-class background--his accent and delivery are created out of whole cloth.
