Anyway back to B7 - Calle said something about the chocolate being cheap and filled with suppresant drugs. If you look at Gold and the passengers who are doped, I dont think they'd have cared if they ate cardboard. I can imagine food being a form of horrible looking goop - please sir can I not have any more. Why waste time or thought when the people are too doped to care?
