One teensy thought here. Hijacking implies physically taking some object and removing it, with the effect that the object is not available for others to enjoy.
However, if I write a piece of fanfic, however bad, about Avon, Avon doesn't magically disappear from all the B7 videos in the world for the duration of my use of him. Regardless of my intervention, everyone else in the world remains free to interpret Avon in any way they please.

I disagree. I've just finished watching my copy of "The Way Back" and Avon is rather conspicuous by his absence!!!!
