They objected to it here, too. Not on the grounds of language, though, but because certain people in rural areas suggested it made country people look like idiots. Hell, if some twit in a ute sprayed mud with his back wheels over my washing, 'bugger' might be the word I'd use too. Though "I'll bloody kill you the next time I see you" does come to mind a little more easily.
