I've read the comments from Tavia and Neil on this and I'm sorry it didn't work out. I've passed those comments onto the rest of the committee and we'll look at ways we can make it more productive next time.

There were two reasons why it didn't work out, and both could be lumped under the heading of 'Shit happens'. Morag was an unfortunate choice of co-panellist, but I don't know why she took over the workshop the way she did and took it in completely the wrong direction. For all I know it might simply have been nerves. Maybe she thought it really was about editing rather than writing. Since she's not a Blakie she won't be on the Lyst, and I don't want to misjudge her without hearing her side of it.
In hindsight, Michael Sheard's drill session could have been foreseen as a very unwelcome interruption, so perhaps some code of practice might be devised for anything like this in future. When he first arrived in the corridor, someone shut the door of our room simply to keep the noise down. Michael then opened it and marched his troops in. Perhaps a 'do not disturb' policy on closed doors might be considered next time?
