I think Blake would have been self sacrificing and jumped. I can't see Blake forcing, or trying to force, either Vila or Avon off, though I doubt he would have managed it with Avon.
Re what I said earlier about Vila's professional attack on Arlen in Blake, if he had those skills, why didn't he go for Avon, or was he too gutted at the betrayal?

I think he was too gutted at the betrayal, yes; but there's the additional factor that he was relying on trickery with Arlen. Avon would never have fallen for something like that under those particular circumstances.

I think that between 'Orbit' and 'Blake' he asked Dayna to give him some self-defense lessons, just in case.
