This reminds me of the incident when I realised that the reason why I used approximately one third of the water my flatmate thought necessary for a bath was that I still following Second World War guidelines. I found out when the maximum permitted depth of a war bath was a question on Mastermind.

Despite fanfic, I fear our crew had to get by on showers, poor things.
