What other cross-fandoms exist,
What do you consider qualifies one to be a member of a show's "fandom"? Watching it faithfully? Participating in online discussion about it? Writing fanfic, buying action figures, erecting shrines, making sacrifices?
Why am I suddenly thinking of burning little action figures from happy meals . . . ?
More seriously, there are a lot of shows and books I'm pretty familiar with and that I could go off on a lengthy discourse about (Lost in Space: why does Judy treat what's-his-name as if he weren't the only single, nonsibling guy on the planet (Dr. Smith doesn't count)? Are we seriously supposed to believe she had options? And what kind of inbreeding were the idiot planners of this colonization attempt thinking of? [this question _seriously_ doesn't require an answer. I _don't_ want to know]) that I don't consider myself a fan of. There are others I seriously like that I don't feel I'm actually a 'fan' of and others I'm a fan of that you can't do fannish things with (I could never write a fanfic for Lord of the Rings because I just don't feel I could add anything [and, even if I did, it would only suffer by comparison]). Also, I like Highlander (for mainly Methosish reasons) but I don't think I'm quite up to fan level (no video tapes, for one thing). There are so many I've liked that I wouldn't out on _quite_ the level of being a fan for.
However, here's this week's list (subject to change without notice) -
1. B7
2. Harry Potter
3. Angel (Buffy's 4th year and half of this year didn't work well, IMHO, although I got interested again in the last few episodes. It's on probation for me).
