Me: > Remember the old discussions on where names came from. Someone brought
up they'd never heard of Kerr, and others pointed out the name was familiar from home canning. In fact, I have a Kerr jar in my house. Underneath the embossed script "Kerr" is the phrase "Wide-mouth Mason jar". Avon could be a big-mouth sometimes. Masons are a secretive lot who supposedly have esoteric knowlege. I wonder if the name *was* inspired by the canning jar, after all.
Dana: 1. I think it is safe to say that the macho lot who gave us B7 are not particularly familiar with home canning. If there's a Kerr brand of motorcycle or chain saw or something like that, I'd say you had a point.
You mean to say Terry's Mum never put homemade preserves on the table when he was a lad? Or is Kerr just an American brand he wouldn't have seen?
- I fear that My Client is unaware of any esoteric knowledge that has to
be gained by *joining a club* and *going to meetings* and *exchanging funny handshakes.*
You have hit the flaw right there.

Possibly even Terry's Dad--Alan Davison's "A Kipper With My Tea" says that in many families, marmalade-making is considered a masculine activity. I just don't think our TN took a lot of inspiration from domestic artifacts.
