about Travis
It occured to me, if Travis was too ingrained as a character to loose, rather than having a different actor with his own interpretation, why not create Travis's brother - same surname, the original died, brother blames Blake. You could then get rid of the arm and eye, which do not suit TravisII. I know it sounds a little soapie, but could possibly have worked???

I've already suggested that this is what happened--but half-brother. The first Mrs. Travis Sr. had the money, so Travis Major (Sebastian, let us say) went to public school. Remarriage produced Travis Minor (Rod), who went to the comprensive. So much for the accents.
