Damn. I'd have reacted to similar postings before, but I've been trying to follow Una's advice and thinking before posting, knowing that I can only be angry about the current situation and not likely to compose a calm response. It was very good advice, Una, but I've had enough of deleting threads wholesale and missing out on what might be a good insight into a subject just because the writer is responding to someone with an entire hive of bees in his/her bonnet.

There have been rather too many metaphorical axes being ground for my liking of late, particularly as the standard safety valve of taking such disagreements to e-mail seems to have been bypassed by the axegrinders. To many of us, the rights and wrongs of slash is not the only topic of conversation. I salute those who are able to look at it without flying off the handle. To the others, who must've been vaccinated with broken gramophone needles, I say there are a number of people who don't find the topic endlessly fascinating as a discussion subject and would very much like a break from it. Please, do everyone, including yourselves, a favour.
