Who is Dawkins, prithee? And what does 'memes' stand for? (Excuse my ignorance.) I was under impression that you were (at least part-time) a Marxist critic. (I respect this, they have very good interpretations sometimes.)
You seem to have a very strong urge to reject all sorts of theories which involve the subconscious, the irrational, etc. Yet you have a recurrent dream in which you can climb up, but cannot climb down stairs, and there is a huge gap in between which gives you creeps. Have you ever thought of that?
