Jim Francis, known to many of us as one of the special effects wizards behind Blake's 7, has died. He is survived by his wife and son.
He was a veteran of the BBC visual effects department and contributed effects to more episodes of Dr Who and Blake's 7 than one could even begin to count, plus many other BBC shows.
More recently, Jim co-ran SFX-GB, out of Shepperton Studios, and has most recently worked on the likes of Red Dwarf VIII, The Tenth Kingdom and Kevin And Perry Go Large, as well pop videos for the likes of David Bowie, Tina Turner and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
