Kudos to Wildean and Anna for attempting to straighten all this out. However, I believe that the basic premise--that there IS a consistent underlying system--is false. They were making this stuff up as they went along--based on the (not irrational in pre-widespread-use-of-VCR times, that no one would be able to call them on it).
AnnaS's Guide to Time and Distance in Blake's 7, or: Where the hell are we and how long did it take us to get here?
Cf. Where am I going, and how did I get into this handbasket?
The voyage to Cygnas Alpha from Earth takes 8 months. This is by far the longest flight in the series - the London must work on pedal power.
LOL, but oars are a real possibility--it's a galley, after all. And what's the hurry, since the prisoners are supposed to be spending the rest of their lives on Cygnus Alpha (and the guards are supposed to spending their lives until retirement or promotion shuttling back and forth)?
Deliverance - six days for a series 5 Spacemaster ('maximum thrust of four by six')
But it's the maximum thrust that really drives you insane.
Countdown - the escape pod has a range of '100 space hours' and it is '500 space hours to reach the nearest habitable planet to Albian. WTF is a 'space hour'?
It's on RadioFed right before The Archers.
