What an interesting idea for a plot -- where did you hear that this was Nation's intention?
Can't say, since I promised not to tell. But Blake killing Gan was something I worked out for myself which is why I mention it here.
he - Nation, not Blake - would have sent a legion of bewildered kids crying all the way to bed. Not exactly something to be proud of. He'd have done less damage mugging them for their Smarties.
As indeed Boucher and Ridge did somewhat later. Start as you mean to go
on.
'Blake' was about a tragic misunderstanding and a pack of bad guys killing off the good guys. It also ended the entire series. Not the same as a good guy turning out to be a bad guy in mid-season and another good guy gunning him down in cold blood.
