Someone once told me 'Prime' would have to indicate the first planet, which is why GP could have never been named Darlon IV. However, if 'Prime' indicates the biggest planet in the system, then it could easily be fourth from the sun in the Darlon system. ie GP = Darlon IV in the same way Earth = Sol III.
Interesting. And they use Roman numerals in astronomy, so Del Ten would really be Del X?
Is Gauda Prime's sun called Darlon, or was that just an example?
So Jupiter would be Sol Prime, and Darlon has no gas giants. That brings up another question - do most solar systems have gas giants? Or could they just have one or two Earth-sized planets, or none at all (a 'blind' sun is mentioned in the series). Were planets formed differently from the accretion disks of different sorts of suns?
