Sometimes, as a writer, it really frustrates me that these people won't just come out and *talk* to each other. It'd make them much easier to write. But then, they wouldn't be nearly as interesting as characters, and I probably wouldn't be *interested* in writing about them.
Isn't that what a lot of fanfic is aimed at doing - getting them to 'come out and talk to each other'? Whereas what makes the characters feel convincing is the fact that nine times out of ten they do anything but?
