Fair enough, but I'm kind of confused about what I'm being accused of here. First I'm accused of attacking Avon for saying hes' less than nice, then I'm accused of attacking the plot (grumble grumble).
As for your question: OK, why do I believe from the episode that Meegat and Co. weren't told? I said it in one of my last posts, but since that evidently didn't make an impact, I'll reiterate. The sheer logistics of getting another person/hundreds of people onto the Liberator (even if you take up a single person you need to get teleport bracelets, inform the others, make sure there are clean sheets in the guest room :-)etc.) are such that it's very surprising that, if they did do it, there wasn't some mention or other indication that they had done so.
The other is by ommission. Think of other instances where they do pick up people: Misson to Destiny, Children of Auron, Project Avalon, Shadow, etc. In all of these, there is at least a tiny little scene or sentence saying what was done. Since no such sentence/scene occurs in Deliverance, but does in all the others, this suggests that it didn't happen.
I realise that this is arguing from negative evidence (i.e. from the fact that things aren't said rather than from a scene in which Avon says "Sorry kid, no room" :-) ) but I still think that's a valid point.
As for your last point: I'll take an example from other fandom which isn't so emotionally charged, if I can. At the end of "Sapphire and Steel," S and S are left trapped in the room, with no indication of what happened to Silver; he's there before they are trapped, but not after. Since then, a lot of guides, articles etc. say "Sapphire, Steel *and Silver* end up trapped in the room." Now I've seen this ep again recently and Silver is definitely not there, and it seems to me that the articles that say he was are rationalising after the fact to try and tie up an irritating loose end. It seems to me that by saying "Meegat was picked up," various people are trying to tie up this loose end because it bothers them-- for whatever reason, I leave open. But the point is, the end is still loose.
