From: "Neil Faulkner" N.Faulkner@tesco.net Actually, reading those 9 points makes me think of two central characters I mentioned above - Jack Frost and Inspector Morse. Two central characters who have not generated anything like a prominent fandom, nor indeed any active fandom at all that I know of (my mother is an avid watcher - and reader - of both, and can't imagine anyone wanting to write their own Frost fic or Morse fic.
Give them time, Neil. I can't imagine Dalziel and Pascoe fanfic either, but they've run out of Reginald Hill books to dramatise, and if that state continues and "divorces" the characters from their print originals, you might see such things. Morse fic, seeing as his creator has killed him off, might be less likely, but a B7 fan isn't going to see problems with fans of other shows writing about "untelevised" or alternate stuff, is he/she?
Had I the words this morning, I'd mention those ETV shows that have cast sizes that are a bit too large to be able to say with certainty that here is a lead character, let alone a lead character that fits all or most of Susan's list. But the office is in chaos this morning, due to reorganisation of seating arrangements, and I'm a bit too distracted.
Regards Joanne (who bought those issues of ETV that were available, and wondered where the magazine had disappeared to...)
