When I was a guest scientist on a TV program, I did a small thing on Orac. The theme on the show was a panel discussion on the way people cheat in science, in solving a problem. Ie, they way they use science in a different or unusual way.
Orac, did uses the standard computer configuration, he was a hybrid. Upon thinking about it, they were always using hybrid science to stay in front of the federation.
I think a good topic may be, where the authors got this idea from, and are there many examples in our real world.
