there was certainly an IRA mainland bombing campaign in the early 1970s, as I worked for the Post Office and was part of a team that managed security for its London computer centres during that time. And even further back, when I was a little girl, I recall being held up on the North Circular Road when an IRA bomb went off one Easter somewhere near Stonebridge Park and burst a water main. Plus ca change.....
