It's such a shame that the BBC didn't have people of enough discrimination to realise what a peerless and priceless asset the dear little man would have been to the crew at *any* time in the series (or even as the star of Series 5).

Admittedly I was in Glasgow at the time it occurred to me, but now I'm convinced that one of the options on the DVD will be Jarriere popping up like Clippie (the Microsoft paper clip) to ask for elucidation of all plot holes.
