He's right with the others in urging Blake to kill the disarmed Travis in Duel, though. And he helps Avon with the set up in RoD.

Travis massacred civilians, and if Blake had killed him on Centero or Aristo (OK, not in 'Duel' as it was a test) then things would have been a lot better for the rebels. Yes, I know it's not in Blake's character, but he's a better person than me, Gunga Din.
Vila was 'adjusted' more than once, presumably suffering as much as Blake did, and Shrinker was a torturer he may even have encountered. I'd do the same. I don't think Vila would have pulled the trigger on Shrinker if he had the chance though; OTOH I might in his place!
