OK, you know I like to type this up from time to time.
And I like to read it from time to time. Thanks for posting it again, Ellynne - especially the bit about Roj and Kerr.
Kerr - Can mean dark or speak (related to the ger root in Roger, which means noble spear, so Roj and Kerr have first names that make up a single name - and the elements they get suit them. Blake is the 'noble' idealist [which is why Avon claims to despise him] and Avon claims to have a personality any spear would be proud to own up to. It also seems to suggest Avon as Blake's scapegoat or proxy, literally embodying a darker half that Blake needs but must also deny as part of himself).
Scapegoat or proxy - would that be the same thing as Tanist? My theory is that Travis is really Blake's dark self. Last evening I read a story in which Blake sees a shadow in the 'next world' and at first he thinks it's Avon, but then it turns out to be Travis. It's not the first time I encounter such a twist in fanfic: Blake confusing Avon for Travis in a moment of frenzy, Avon with an artificial eye, etc. Blake seems to have two shadows, although there doesn't seem to be much similarity between Avon and Travis. Could you cast some mythological light in there? (Or anyone else who has a suggestion?)
