Unfortunately, Blakes 7 does have the occasional moment when you realise that you are just watching a TV programme, rather than losing yourself in a world if intrigue, good dialogue and leather trousers.
To that end, here are a few of my moments.
1. "My God! I've forgotten how to read!!!" Paul Daneman gave a good performance in the episode "Killer". Unfortunately this, his last line, is awful.
2. "I can't remember!!!! (remember...remember...remember...remember...)" Unless Blake is attempting to recollect his Womble status, I think the endless echoing of the word detracts from the situation, rather than trying to signify Blake's mental turmoil. ("The Way Back")
3. "I am the servant of your God, Kneel!" I never fail to hear this line as "...servant of your god, Neil" Also, later in "Cygnus Alpha", the situation gets me confused every time. Vargas, after his teleportation up to Liberator, materialises in (presumably) the teleport bay, but then walks forward, out of the teleport, towards the teleport. Unless there's another bay behind the console. But you knew all this already!
4. In "Mission to Destiny, we're given a massive clue about the identity of the killer. Dr Kendall tells Blake that the Neutrotope is kept in a safe to which ONLY HE knows the combination. Then (and I'm sorry if I'm spoiling things here) he sends Sara off to get it from the safe.
5. No specific episode for this, but one thing that annoys me is the varying pronunciation of the name "Servalan".
We have the standard "SERVE-a-lan", "SEVVA-lohn" (but that's in a french accent so that's not too bad; "SERVER-l'n" from Travis II; "Se-VALAN" and the most annoying of all, "Sleer". (I've spelt these phoenetically, capitals denoting emphasis)
But to get back to prsising the series, I've remembered an addition to my twenty "good" moments.
In the episode "Weapon", the first few minutes concentrate on Bek and Hanna. They make their arrangements in the corridor, and then part. I really like the way that through the window we can see Liberator arriving.
Please don't throw things at me
