If someone posts pure opinion, unbacked up with fact or argument, then everyone else is entitled to ignore them.
Which is all I was suggesting, to be fair. I've always felt that lit crit, in it's basic form is something anyone can do, because we all do it every day. Often without realizing it.
One: I really like that record. Two: Why? One: It's the violins. I think. And the chorus is v. catchy.
Identifying the reasons behind things. We all do it. All can do it. Not the exclusive preserve of...well, anyone. Every post I've read on this list has, to some extent or other, demonstrated those skills. It's, as I said, disengenuous on Annie/Bizarro's part to claim that by simply requesting exactly what you requested above, I am being in some way elitist or excluding.
