That's the way it's *always* been, ever since Doctor Who began. SF is for kiddies is the attitude...
True, but just as kids' movies are frequently recognised as containing laughs for the parents that'll go safely over the heads of the little treasures, I see no reason why adults can't recognise the deeper themes in sf, apart from the self-imposed blinkers.

All true. We do have some great TV here. It's more the attitudes I'm bashing.
