This brings up the point of styles of communication in B7--in addition to numerous examples of flat-out lies, misdirections (Tarrant's description of Orac in DotG, for instance), there are smart-ass remarks (Blake's introduction of Cally as his mother in StarOne) and things that are meant as smart-ass remarks that are actually true (e.g., I suspect that Avon really IS shy). So I don't think we can take this as an actual reflection of Vila's dietary practices.
